Summary

Welcome to Beginners Astrophotography.

In this site I am sharing what I have learned about astrophotography. I have been an amateur astronomer since the late 1970's when my father started to share his love of astronomy with me. I have retained this love for astronomy throughout my life, but have only recently devoted enough time to the hobby to gain enough experience for it to be worth sharing.

Reference info is on the side bar, and top. New events and updates will be in the posts.

This site is devoted to helping beginners, young and old, learn astrophotography. For now it covers one topic.

Wide-field astrophotography is best suited to the beginner. It can be done with just about any camera and many of the targets are easy to achieve photos to be proud of.

Deep sky astrophotography  will be covered in the future. It  can be quite expensive, and is very complicated. You do have to begin somewhere though, so I will do my best to walk through this pursuit with the beginner in mind.

For either of the topics I recommend sharing photos on https://telescopius.com/ It's free to use and also includes planning tools for observing and photographing the night sky. My photos can be found at https://telescopius.com/profile/james_amendolagine

I highly recommend this book to learn about all things astrophotography, especially wide field.
